Araraquara is a city located in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. Founded in 1817, it covers an area of approximately 1,004 km2 (388 sq mi) and has a population of 242,228.
The city is notably recognized as "the abode of the sun" due to its hot weather, particularly during the summer months. It is also well-known for its impressive sunsets.
