São Borja is a city located in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul. It holds the distinction of being the oldest municipality within the state.
The city was founded in 1682 by the Jesuits as the first of the Seven Places of the Missions. It was named São Francisco de Borja to honor Saint Francis Borgia.
