Passo Fundo is a municipality located in the northern region of the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul. The city derives its name from the river for which it is situated.
As the tenth largest city in the state, Passo Fundo has an estimated population of 204,722 inhabitants. The total municipal area covers approximately 780 square kilometers.
