Caxias do Sul is a Brazilian municipality located in the northeastern region of the state of Rio Grande do Sul. Situated at an elevation of 817 meters, it serves as the largest city within the Serra Gaúcha region.

The city ranks as the second most populous urban center in Rio Grande do Sul, surpassed only by the state capital, Porto Alegre. Nationally, Caxias do Sul is recognized as the 47th largest city in Brazil.
