Mossoró is a Brazilian municipality located in the interior of the state of Rio Grande do Norte. It serves as the capital of the Brazilian semi-arid region and covers an area of approximately 2,100 square kilometres (810 sq mi). The city is situated roughly 281 kilometers from the state capital, Natal.
As the largest municipality in Rio Grande do Norte by land area, Mossoró is a significant population center. According to the 2022 demographic census, it has a population of 264,577 inhabitants, making it the second most populous city in the state and the most populous in its interior region.
