Volta Redonda is a municipality located in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The city covers an area of 182.81 km² and sits at an elevation ranging from 350 meters to 707 meters above sea level. It has a population of approximately 261,563 inhabitants.
The name Volta Redonda is derived from the geographical layout of the region, specifically referring to the round shape of a curve in the Paraíba do Sul river.
