Curvelo

Curvelo is a municipality located in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Situated at an altitude of 633 metres, it occupies a total area of 3,296 km² and serves as the geodesic centre of the state. The city is positioned approximately 170 km north of the state capital, Belo Horizonte, and is accessible via highways MG 135 and BR 040.

The municipality has an estimated population of 84,296 inhabitants as of 2025. It takes its name from the Brazil-born Portuguese priest Antônio Corvelo de Ávila, following the founding of the parish of Santo Antônio da Estrada e o Padre Antônio de Ávila Curvelo during the 18th century.
