Caratinga is a Brazilian municipality situated in the countryside of Minas Gerais within the Southeast Region of Brazil. It is located in the Vale do Rio Doce and forms part of the Vale do Aço metropolitan area, positioned approximately 310 kilometres (190 mi) east of Belo Horizonte, the state capital.
The municipality encompasses a total area of 1,258.479 square kilometres (485.901 sq mi), though only 17 square kilometres (6.6 sq mi) are designated as urban area. As of 2024, the population of Caratinga was estimated to be 90,687 inhabitants.
