Alfenas

Alfenas is a municipality located in the southern region of the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais. Situated at an elevation of 888 meters, the city covers a total area of 849 square kilometers. As of 2020, the population of the municipality was recorded at 80,494 residents.

The city is accessible via highways MG 179, BR 491, and BR 369. It is located approximately 335 kilometers from the state capital of Belo Horizonte and 300 kilometers from São Paulo. Alfenas uses the slogan "Alfenas, the gateway to the sea of Minas," which refers to its proximity to Lake Furnas.
