Vila Velha is a coastal Brazilian municipality located in the state of Espírito Santo within the Southeast Region of Brazil. It serves as an integral part of the Greater Vitória Metropolitan Area.
The city covers a total area of 209.965 km2, with approximately 54.57 km2 designated as urban territory. As of 2024 estimates by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), Vila Velha has a population of 502,899 inhabitants. It ranks as the second most populous municipality in the state of Espírito Santo, following only Serra.
