Porto Seguro is a city located in the far south of the Bahia region in Brazil. It covers an area of approximately 2,287 square kilometres and has an estimated population of 168,326 residents, resulting in a population density of about 52.7 residents per square kilometre.
The city holds a significant place in Brazilian history due to its geographical location. In 1500, the area encompassing Porto Seguro, along with neighboring Santa Cruz Cabrália and Eunápolis, served as the first landing point for Portuguese navigators, most notably Pedro Álvares Cabral.
