Campo Formoso is a municipality located in the state of Bahia within the North-East region of Brazil. It covers a total area of 7,161.83 km² (2,765.20 mi²) and has a population of 71,487, resulting in a population density of approximately 9.2 inhabitants per square kilometer. The city is situated about 248 miles from the state capital, Salvador.
The region is characterized by its abundance of gems, rare stones, and caves. It also serves as the location for the Cimpor cement factory. Geographically, the city is surrounded by green mountains; notably, four transmission towers situated on the edge of one of these mountains provide the local population with access to internet, television, cable TV, wireless, and telephone services. The area experiences a hot climate with average temperatures around 25 °C.
