Parintins is a municipality located in the far east of the Amazonas state in Brazil. The city sits on Tupinambarana island within the Amazon River and serves as the center of its own namesake microregion. Covering an area of 6,044 square kilometers, the municipality has a total population of 96,372 residents.
The city is primarily known for hosting the Parintins Folklore Festival every June, a popular event that depicts Boi-Bumbá. Additionally, the location gained recognition in late 2006 as the site for an experimental deployment of WiMAX technology sponsored by Intel.
