Benin

Cotonou is the largest city and seat of government in Benin. Located in the southeastern part of the country, it is situated between Lake Nokoué and the Atlantic Ocean.

While the official population count was 679,012 in 2012, over two million people reside in the larger urban area. The city's urban footprint continues to expand, particularly toward the west.
