Blagoevgrad is a town situated in southwestern Bulgaria. It serves as the administrative center for both Blagoevgrad Municipality and Blagoevgrad Province. Located in the valley of the Struma River at the foot of the Rila Mountains, the city is positioned approximately 101 kilometres south of Sofia and sits near the border with North Macedonia.
With a population of nearly 70,000 inhabitants, Blagoevgrad functions as the primary economic and cultural hub for the southwestern region of the country.
