Karangasso-Sambla, also known as Karankasso, is the capital of the Karangasso-Sambla Department in the Houet Province of Burkina Faso's Hauts-Bassins Region. It is situated along a main road approximately 45 kilometres from the city of Bobo-Dioulasso.
The town serves as the largest community for the Sambla people. While it contains a health center, healthcare in the area has been reported as poor; historical records indicate an outbreak in 1993 where 25 people died from measles. Additionally, the population lacks access to electricity, phone lines, and formal education, leading many residents to rely on radios for information.
Transportation within and around Karangasso primarily involves the use of bicycles or bush-taxis. Public health research in the area has noted significant fluctuations in malaria infection rates among young children between the wet and dry seasons.
