Zonhoven is an urbanized municipality located in the central region of the Belgian province of Limburg. Situated on the outskirts of Hasselt, it shares borders with the neighboring municipalities of Houthalen-Helechteren, Genk, and Heusden-Zolder.
As of January 1, 2019, Zonhoven had a total population of 21,237 residents. The municipality covers a total area of 39.34 km2, resulting in a population density of approximately 506 inhabitants per square kilometer.
