Leuven, also known as Louvain, is a Dutch-speaking municipality located in the Flanders region of Belgium. It serves as the capital and largest city of the province of Flemish Brabant, situated approximately 25 kilometres east of Brussels. The city is the eighth largest in Belgium, with a population exceeding 100,244 inhabitants.

The municipality of Leuven comprises several sub-municipalities, including Heverlee, Kessel-Lo, Leuven proper, Wilsele, and Wijgmaal, as well as portions of Haasrode and Korbeek-Lo.
