Destelbergen is a municipality located in the Belgian province of East Flanders. It was officially established on January 1, 1977, following the fusion of the two former municipalities of Destelbergen proper and Heusden.
The western border of the municipality is defined by an ancient silted-up branch of the river Scheldt, which separates it from the neighboring municipalities of Ghent and Melle.
