Lakshmipur District, also known as Laxmipur District, is a district in Bangladesh covering an area of 1,440 km2. It is situated with borders shared by Chandpur to the north, Bhola and Noakhali districts to the south, Noakhali to the east, and Barisal and Bhola districts to the west.
The district was originally part of the Noakhali district until February 15, 1984. On that date, the western portion of Noakhali was reorganized from the Lakshmipur subdivision into a separate district to improve administrative efficiency.
