Mymensingh is a metropolitan city located in north-central Bangladesh. It serves as the capital of the Mymensingh Division and functions as the administrative center for both the Mymensingh District and the Mymensingh Division.
Situated on the bank of the Brahmaputra River, the city is located approximately 120 km (75 mi) north of Dhaka, the national capital. It is recognized as a major financial center and an educational hub for the region.
As of 2022, Mymensingh City Corporation ranked as the 8th largest city in Bangladesh by population and the 7th largest by area.
