The Karnaphuli River is a significant waterway located in the south-eastern part of Bangladesh. It serves as the largest and most important river within the Chittagong Hill Tracts and the city of Chittagong.
Originating from Saithah village in the Mamit district of Mizoram, India, the river flows approximately 270 kilometres (170 mi) southwest. It maintains a width of 667 metres (2,188 ft) as it travels through the Chattogram Hill Tracts and Chittagong before emptying into the Bay of Bengal.
The Karnaphuli is characterized by its high velocity, ranking as the fastest-flowing river in Bangladesh after the Padma River.
