Chattogram

Bangladesh

Chattogram, officially known as Chittagong, is the second-largest city in Bangladesh and serves as the administrative seat of the eponymous division and district. Located on the banks of the Karnaphuli River between the Bay of Bengal and the Chittagong Hill Tracts, it functions as the business capital of the country. As of 2022, the city area had a population exceeding 5.6 million people.

The city is a vital economic hub for Bangladesh, primarily due to its role as an important export center. It is home to the Port of Chittagong, which is the busiest port in both the country and the Bay of Bengal. Through this port, significant quantities of goods including tea, jute, and petroleum products are shipped. The city supports many large local businesses and plays a central role in the national economy.
