Rajshahi is a metropolitan city in Bangladesh that serves as a major urban, administrative, commercial, and educational center. It functions as the administrative seat for both the Rajshahi division and its eponymous district. The city holds the distinction of being the largest city in North Bengal.

Geographically, Rajshahi is situated on the north bank of the Padma River near the Bangladesh–India border. The city is surrounded by the satellite towns of Nowhata and Katakhali within Paba Upazila, which together form an urban agglomeration with a population of approximately 1 million people.
