Jessore, officially known as Jashore, is a city located in southwestern Bangladesh within the Khulna Division. It serves as the headquarters of the Jessore District and is situated over an area of 21.15 km2. The municipality was established in 1864 and currently consists of 9 wards and 73 mahalls.
With a population of approximately 209,330, Jessore ranks as the 22nd largest city in Bangladesh. The city is notable for hosting the first flight training school of the Bangladeshi Air Force, which was established in 1971. Additionally, the area features a domestic aviation facility known as Jashore Airport.
