Tangail is a city located in the Tangail District of central Bangladesh. It is situated on the bank of the Louhajang River.
The establishment of the city began with the requisition of 3,269 square kilometres of land from Mymensingh. Historically, the area served as a Mahakuma of the Mymensingh district.
