Manikganj is a town located in the Dhaka Division of Bangladesh. It serves as the administrative center for both the Manikganj District and the Manikganj Sadar Upazila. The area is characterized by its relatively low pollution levels and has seen recent urban development, including the construction of a highway connecting Dhaka with Singair Upazila to improve regional transportation infrastructure.
The district is situated adjacent to the Padma River, which supports local biodiversity and provides ecological diversity to the region. Strategically, Manikganj facilitates inter-regional connectivity between the north-western and south-western parts of Bangladesh through the Paturia and Aricha ferry terminals. The area is also known for its production of molasses, specifically from the village of Jhitka.
The region features several cultural and historical landmarks, most notably the Baliati Zamindari Palace. This site serves as a prominent tourist attraction that reflects the architectural heritage of the district.
