Greenland is an autonomous territory of the Kingdom of Denmark and constitutes the largest of its three constituent parts by land area, alongside Denmark proper and the Faroe Islands. Located between the Arctic and Atlantic oceans east of the Canadian Arctic Archipelago, it is recognized as the world's largest island. The territory shares a small 1.2-kilometre border with Canada on Hans Island.

The capital and largest city of Greenland is Nuuk. While citizens of Greenland are citizens of Denmark and thus members of the European Union, Greenland itself is not part of the EU. Economically, the territory relies heavily on aid from Denmark, which has averaged 5.4 billion kr. annually between 2019 and 2023, representing more than 20% of its gross domestic product.
