Banovići is a town and municipality situated in northeastern Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is located within the Tuzla Canton of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The intensive development of the area began in 1946 with the construction of the Brčko-Banovići railway. The region is notably characterized by its brown coal, which is well-known throughout Europe due to its high quality.
