Sumqayit is a city located in Azerbaijan on the Absheron Peninsula near the Caspian Sea. It is situated approximately 31 kilometres away from the national capital, Baku.
The city is the second largest urban center in Azerbaijan, following Baku. As of the beginning of 2024, Sumqayit had a population of 427,000 residents.
