Qabala

Azerbaijan

Qabala is a city located in Azerbaijan and serves as the administrative center of the Qabala District. The municipality is composed of the city of Gabala and the village of Küsnat.

The city was previously known as Kutkashen before being renamed following the independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan. It was named in honor of the ancient city of Gabala, which served as the former capital of Caucasian Albania. The archaeological site associated with this historical city is situated approximately 20 km southwest of the current town.
