Mardakan is a settlement and municipality situated on the eastern Absheron Peninsula in Azerbaijan. Located on the coast of the Caspian Sea, it serves as the administrative center of the Khazar Rayon, which houses the district's official office. The settlement has a population of 32,084, making it one of the most populated municipalities in the country and the third largest settlement in the Khazar Rayon by population.
The town is positioned approximately 30 km from downtown Baku and is located just 10 km from Heydar Aliyev International Airport. It is bounded by Shuvalan to the east, Qala to the south, Shagan to the west, and borders Bina in the south-west and Buzovna to the north-west.
