Aghdam

Azerbaijan

Aghdam is a town located in Azerbaijan that serves as the nominal capital of the Aghdam District. Situated on the outskirts of the Karabakh plain, it lies approximately 26 km from Khankendi at the eastern foot of the Karabakh Range.

The settlement was founded during the 18th century and was officially granted city status in 1828. Following its initial establishment, Aghdam experienced significant growth during the Soviet period.
