Khirdalan

Azerbaijan

Khirdalan is a city and municipality located in Azerbaijan. It serves as the administrative capital of the Absheron District. The city officially gained its city status on November 29, 2006, following approval by the National Assembly of Azerbaijan.

The city is notable for being home to Baltika-Baku, which is the largest brewery in the country and was formerly known as Khyrdalan. Additionally, the city was the site of a monument to Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak erected in 2007; this statue was subsequently removed on June 8, 2011, following Mubarak's resignation and demands from the Azerbaijani opposition.
