York is a historic cathedral city located in North Yorkshire, England. Situated at the confluence of the rivers Ouse and Foss, it serves as the traditional county town of Yorkshire and functions as the administrative centre for the City of York district. The city has origins dating back to the Roman period.
The city is characterized by its significant historical architecture, including the York Minster, the castle, and the city walls, all of which are designated as Grade I listed structures. Geographically, it is positioned approximately 27 miles north-east of Leeds, 90 miles south of Newcastle upon Tyne, and 207 miles north of London.
