Perth

Australia

Perth is the capital city of Western Australia, located in the South West Land Division. It serves as a major urban center with a population exceeding 2.3 million people within the Greater Perth area as of 2023, making it the fourth-most-populous city in Australia.

The metropolitan area is primarily situated on the Swan Coastal Plain, positioned between the Indian Ocean and the Darling Scarp. The city developed from original British settlements along the Swan River, which currently hosts the central business district and the port of Fremantle. Due to its geographic location, Perth is considered one of the world's most isolated major cities by certain criteria.
