Bendigo, formerly known as Sandhurst, is a city situated in the Victoria region of Australia. It is located within the Bendigo Valley near the geographical center of the state.
The city is positioned approximately 150 kilometres (93 mi) north-west of Melbourne, which serves as the state capital.
