Corrientes is the capital city of the province of Corrientes in Argentina. Located on the eastern shore of the Paraná River, it sits approximately 1,000 km (621 mi) from Buenos Aires and 300 km (186 mi) from Posadas along National Route 12.
The city has a population of 346,334 as recorded in the 2010 Census. It is situated directly opposite its twin city, Resistencia, which is located in the Chaco province.
