Tandil is a city located in the southeast of the Buenos Aires Province in Argentina. It serves as the primary urban center of the homonymous partido (department) and is situated just north-northwest of the Tandilia hills.
Founded in 1823, the city derives its name from the Piedra Movediza, a geological feature that fell in 1912. The area is recognized as the birthplace of several notable sports personalities and former Argentine president Mauricio Macri.
