Molodyozhnaya is a research station located in East Antarctica at coordinates 67°40′S 45°50′E. Originally established as a Soviet facility, it later became a Russian research station. In the Russian language, the site is occasionally referred to as the capital of Antarctica.
The station was mothballed in 1990 but was subsequently reopened in 2006. It currently operates on a seasonal basis for scientific research purposes.
