Muxima is a town and commune located within the municipality of Quiçama in the Icolo e Bengo Province of Angola. Situated along the banks of the Kwanza River, the settlement derives its name from the Kimbundu word for "heart."
The area was occupied by the Portuguese in 1589, who subsequently erected a church and the Fortress of Muxima in 1599. Today, the site is notable as a location for a Marian shrine.
