Huambo, formerly known as Nova Lisboa, is a city located in Angola. It serves as the capital of the Huambo province and is situated approximately 220 km east of Benguela and 600 km southeast of the national capital, Luanda.
As of 2024, it is the third-most populous city in the country, with a city population of 710,000 and a total municipality population of 836,293. The city functions as a primary hub on the Caminho de Ferro de Benguela (CFB) railway line, which connects the port of Lobito to the Katanga province in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Transportation to and from Huambo is facilitated by the Albano Machado Airport.
