Chipeta (also known as White Singing Bird) was a Native American leader who served as the second wife of Chief Ouray of the Uncompahgre Ute tribe. Born into the Kiowa Apache people, she was raised by the Utes in the area that is now Conejos, Colorado.
Chipeta acted as a significant advisor and confidant to her husband during his leadership. Following his death in 1880, she continued to serve as a leader for her people.
