Yerevan is the capital and largest city of Armenia. It serves as the nation's primary administrative, cultural, and industrial center as a primate city. Located along the Hrazdan River, it has served as the capital since 1918, marking its fourteenth instance in Armenian history and its seventh location within or around the Ararat Plain.
The city is recognized as one of the world's oldest continuously inhabited cities. Additionally, Yerevan serves as the seat of the Araratian Pontifical Diocese, which is the largest diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church and one of the oldest dioceses in existence.
