Berd is a town located in the Tavush Province of Armenia. It serves as the administrative center of the Berd Municipality and is situated approximately 211 kilometres from the capital city of Yerevan. The town is positioned to the west of the Tavush River and is surrounded by low mountains.
The area surrounding Berd contains several significant historical and religious sites, including the ruins of the 10th-century Tavush Fortress and the 12th-century monasteries of Nor Varagavank and Khoranashat. Other nearby monasteries include Shkhmuradi, Srveghi, and Kaptavank. According to the 2022 census, the town has a population of 6,899, reflecting a decrease from the 7,957 residents recorded in 2011.
