Goris is a town located in southern Armenia, serving as the center of the Goris Municipality within the Syunik Province. It is situated in the valley of the Goris River and is positioned approximately 254 kilometres from the capital city of Yerevan and 67 kilometres from Kapan, the provincial capital.
The town is the second largest city in the Syunik Province by population. According to the 2022 census, its population was 17,113, a decrease from the 20,591 residents reported in 2011. Additionally, Goris serves as the seat of the Diocese of Syunik of the Armenian Apostolic Church.
