Vanadzor is an urban municipal community located in the northern part of Armenia. It serves as the capital of the Lori Province and is situated approximately 128 kilometres north of the national capital, Yerevan. As of the 2022 census, the city has a population of approximately 75,186.
The city is the third-largest in Armenia and serves as the seat of the Diocese of Gougark of the Armenian Apostolic Church. Historical census data indicates that the population was 148,876 in 1979 and decreased to 86,199 by 2011.
