Spitak is a city and urban municipal community located in the northern Lori Province of Armenia. It is situated approximately 96 km (60 mi) north of the capital city, Yerevan, and 22 km (14 mi) west of Vanadzor, which serves as the provincial center.
The city was entirely destroyed during the devastating Armenian earthquake of 1988. Following this disaster, Spitak was rebuilt in a slightly different location from its original site. As of the 2022 census, the town has an approximate population of 13,133 residents.
