The city sprawls along the Bay of Vlorë and is situated between the Albanian Adriatic and Ionian Sea coasts. It is surrounded by the foothills of the Ceraunian Mountains. Due to its geographical position near the Mediterranean Sea and the surrounding mountains, the region experiences a Mediterranean climate.
