Vau i Dejës is a town and municipality located in Shkodër County in northwestern Albania. It serves as the administrative seat of its namesake municipality, which covers a total area of 499.35 km2.
The current municipality was established during the 2015 local government reform through the merger of six former municipalities: Bushat, Hajmel, Shllak, Temal, Vau i Dejës, and Vig-Mnelë. These areas now function as municipal units within the larger administrative district.
As of recent data, the municipality has a total population of 30,438. This figure represents a significant increase from the former municipality of Vau i Dejës alone, which recorded a population of 8,117 during the 2011 census.
